Pine Bonsai Trees For Sale
Most pine trees need full sun, free draining acidic soil with a pH right around 6. They will easily develop root rot so keep them moist but not wet.
There are over a hundred varieties of pine and many are good for bonsai though some will need needle size reduction and backbudding techniques to create bonsai. Some of the most varieties for bonsai are Japanese black pine, Japanese white pine and Mugo pine. There are some dwarf varieties of Japanese pines and many dwarf mugos which all make excellent bonsai if you can find them ungrafted.

Not only is this big old mugo pine an awesome specimen for your collection, but it has a lot of options for future training. You don't often see mugo's of this size and quality. It measures 15" wide X 13" deep and 10-1/2" tall from the soil. It's growing in a very nice unglazed chinese bonsai pot which measures 11" wide X 7-3/4" deep and 4" high. It's hardy from zone 3-8. Nebari, taper, structure, it's all there. It got a heavy folliage pruning this spring but I will update photos as the pads fill back in if it's still available.
